I wrote everything below to warn people about my experience with State Farm. Shortly later, I got a call from Wyatt Rancourt, owner of another office, who first apologized for my experience, then explained that all State Farm offices are small businesses who work with State Farm, and finally insisted that he will be working with State Farm Head Office to make sure they are aware of how I was treated. Because of his phone call, the way he spoke to me, and my belief that he will follow through on his words, I am changing my stars to 5, but leaving the explanation of my experience.
After 30 years of being a State Farm customer, paying in an estimated $200,000 (multiple vehicles renters policies, life insurance, and more), I am taking 100% of my business elsewhere. I will never work with State Farm again and as much of that has to do with how Iris Lopez's office failed to support me as it does with the lack of support when I contacted corporate.
They are unscrupulous and hold neither customer loyalty, nor basic customer service as important aspects of their business.
State Farm as a whole and specifically the office run by "Iris Lopez" who is listed as the contact in all of my emails screwed up, attaching all of the incidents on the insurance of our business vehicle to the personal accounts of myself and my wife. They immediately canceled my wife's insurance when she was struck by another vehicle, stating that regardless of who is at fault, this goes against your record. My wife had 3 accidents in Miami, 2 times she was hit, once she was at fault, and I have made 3 claims in total over 30 years, all of which were the fault of the other driver.
They then quietly canceled my insurance 2 months ago with, what they claim is a letter they sent to my residence. This is a letter I never received. They did not do me the courtesy of a phone call or any other communication. I was driving around uninsured for 2 months without my knowledge.
I found all of this out when I switched to Farmers Bureau Insurance who explained the mistake made by State Farm (improperly placing business claims against our personal account) and who gave us the same coverage at a much better rate.
